Description
The goal of the subject is to acquire basic knowledge in the field of materials science and materials engineering. The knowledge acquired is used for the implementation of development and applied research, as well as for the identification and implementation of tasks, related to the production-processing, and the use of traditional and new engineering materials.
Theoretical study:
Engineering materials: definition and types. Structure of materials. Levels of material structure. Material properties: thermal and physical properties, the properties of physical fields and mechanical properties. Technical characteristics of the material: hardness, abrasion resistance and its mechanisms, resistance to thermo changes. Basic material production technology. Getting materials. Forming materials. Technique of joining materials. Processing of materials. Material testing. Principles of prediction of material properties.
Exercises
Introduction. Defining the basic size. Crystal structure. Microstructure. Preparation of samples. Microscopy. Examination of the microstructure. The measurement of mechanical quantities.
